Sweet Oregon Farm is a family owned farm located in beautiful Helvetia Oregon, just minutes from Highway 26.

We are very lucky to enjoy Oregon’s long growing season and now we want to share the bounty. We are offering 50 shares for the 2011 growing season, our second season as a CSA farm. Shares will be available for purchase until June 1st, 2011.

Although we are not certified organic, we follow all of the same practices as if we were. We never use pesticides and we control weeds with hoeing or bending down and pulling them out.

Now more than ever it is important to be careful what you eat. Eating fresh, local and organic is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your family.

Thanks to our long growing season, we have the privilege of eating fresh, local, organically grown fruits and vegetables. Is there anything more delicious than sweet corn, vine ripened tomatoes or crisp crunchy apples? We don’t think so.

We grow a large number of fruits, vegetables and flowers. We have a very large heirloom apple orchard which, in addition to producing apples for picking, allows us to produce our own apple juice under the Sweet Oregon label. We also grow grapes for wine: Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Sparkling. Both our apple juice and wine will be available to our shareholders as an upgrade.

What is Community Supported Agriculture?

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a grassroots movement that has been gaining momentum for the last couple of decades. It starts with a farmer offering up a limited number of "shares" in his farm. This is the start of a mutually beneficial relationship. The shareholder, who may not have the time, energy or land to grow his own food, has access to fresh, local produce throughout the growing season. The farmer has the convenience of selling his product before the start of the busy harvesting season. In addition to shared benefits, CSA also results in shared risks. This, along with the shared rewards contributes to the feeling that we are all in this together. Learn more about CSA at Local Harvest
